Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar Biography
Sachin Tendulkar has many records to his credit; the highest run taker in test and One Day International (ODI) Cricket, the highest century taker in test and ODI, the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in ODI, the only player to score a double century in ODI cricket and more. Despite these credits, the Little Master manages to maintain a modest profile in the public and in his professional success.Born on April 24, 1973 in Mumbai to the Marathi Novelist Ramesh Tendulkar, Sachin had affinity towards cricket since his childhood. Getting trained as a fast bowler in MRF Pace Foundation, and later suggested by Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee to focus on batting, Tendulkar drifted his attention and started batting practices, with the mentoring of his school cricket coach, Ramakanth Achrekar.Tendulkar made his domestic debut playing for Mumbai against Gujarat, scoring a century in the first match. Seeing his performance, he was picked to the Indian team by the Mumbai captain Dilip Vengsarkar. Making his international debut against Pakistan in 1989, at the age of 16, Tendulkar became the India’s youngest test player. He also remains the only player to score a century in Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy debuts. His career reached the peak between 1994 to 1999.Tendulkar’s captaincy was a much talked about venture. Seeing the poor performance of the team under his captaincy from 1996-2000, Tendulkar resigned, leaving the captaincy to Sourav Ganguly. Tendulkar still remains the most integral part of Indian cricket. He is the first sportsperson without an aviation background, to achieve the honorary rank of Group Captain of the Indian Air Force.
